Andrew Welsh-Huggins est un auteur américain accompli, connu pour ses romans policiers et ses livres de non-fiction. Il est originaire de l'Ohio et réside actuellement à Columbus, où il travaille comme éditeur et reporter pour l'Associated Press.
En plus de son travail de journaliste, Welsh-Huggins est l'auteur de la série Andy Hayes, qui met en scène un ancien quart-arrière de l'Ohio State et des Browns de Cleveland devenu détective. La série a été bien accueillie et a même été nominée pour un Shamus Award. En plus de sa série, Welsh-Huggins a également écrit un roman policier indépendant, "The End of the Road".
Outre son travail de fiction, Welsh-Huggins est également un auteur de non-fiction accompli. Son livre "No Winners Here Tonight" est l'histoire définitive de la peine de mort dans l'Ohio. Il a également édité le recueil de nouvelles "Columbus Noir". Ses nouvelles ont été publiées dans diverses publications telles que "Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine", "Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine", "Mystery Magazine" et plusieurs anthologies, dont "The Best Mystery Stories of the Year 2021", "Mickey Finn 21st Century Noir: Vols I and III", "Paranoia Blues: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Paul Simon".
Le travail de Welsh-Huggins a été reconnu avec plusieurs nominations aux prix, dont le Shamus Award, le Derringer Award et le International Thriller Writers award. Sa nouvelle "The Murderous Type" a remporté le prix Al Blanchard 2017 du meilleur récit policier de la Nouvelle-Angleterre. Il est diplômé du Kenyon College.
