Brenda Jackson est une auteure américaine réputée, particulièrement reconnue pour ses romans d'amour et sa littérature féminine. Née à Jacksonville, en Floride, en 1953, elle a été élevée dans la même ville et a étudié à l'Université de Jacksonville, où elle a obtenu un diplôme en administration des affaires. Jackson est mariée à son premier amour du lycée, Gerald, et ils ont deux fils ensemble.
Le parcours littéraire de Jackson a commencé en 1995 avec la publication de son premier livre, "Tonight and Forever". Depuis, elle a publié plus de 100 romans et novellas, ce qui fait d'elle la première auteure afro-américaine à accomplir un tel exploit. Ses œuvres ont été largement lues, avec plus de 3 millions d'exemplaires imprimés. Jackson est également la première auteure afro-américaine à avoir un livre publié par Harlequin Desire et la première auteure de romance afro-américaine à figurer sur les listes des bestsellers du New York Times et de USA TODAY dans le genre de la romance série.
L'écriture de Jackson est particulièrement remarquable pour sa représentation de personnages divers et de différents groupes ethniques. Lorsqu'elle a commencé à lire des romans d'amour, elle a remarqué un manque de représentation et a été inspirée pour écrire ses propres romans avec des personnages plus diversifiés. Elle a depuis écrit plusieurs séries, dont la Madaris Family, Westmorelands, Steele, et Bachelors in Demand series.
En 2012, Jackson a reçu le prix Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award de la Romance Writers of America, l'un des prix littéraires les plus élevés qu'un auteur de romance puisse recevoir. En 2013, elle a été reconnue par le maire et la ville de Jacksonville comme étant une pionnière dans le domaine littéraire. Jackson a également collaboré avec Five Alive Films pour transformer son titre Truly Everlasting en un film, et son roman de 2011 A Silken Thread est prévu pour être filmé avec Debbie Allen attachée en tant que réalisatrice. En 2020, elle a formé un partenariat avec Bobby Smith, Jr à Hollywood pour apporter plus de ses livres à l'écran.
