Paul Stewart est un auteur très respecté, principalement connu pour son œuvre en littérature pour enfants. Né en 1955 à Londres, en Angleterre, il a passé son enfance à Muswell Hill, dans le Nord de Londres, et à Morden, dans le Sud de Londres. Après avoir terminé ses études à Morden, la passion pour l'aventure de Stewart l'a conduit en Grèce, où il a vécu plusieurs mois et exercé divers métiers, comme repeindre des hôtels et récolter des raisins et des oranges.
La carrière d'écrivain de Stewart est prolifique et diversifiée, couvrant un large éventail de genres, tels que les livres pour enfants, la science-fiction, le fantasy et les romans pour jeunes adultes. Il est particulièrement célèbre pour avoir co-créé la série The Edge Chronicles avec l'illustrateur renommé Chris Ridell. Cette série a connu un grand succès, avec plus de trois millions d'exemplaires vendus et une traduction dans plus de vingt langues. En plus de The Edge Chronicles, Stewart a également collaboré avec Ridell sur d'autres projets, tels que les séries Far Flung Adventures, Football Mad, Blobheads, Muddle Earth, Barnaby Grimes, Scavenger et Free Lance.
Stewart est également un auteur solo accompli, ayant écrit plusieurs livres illustrés pour les jeunes lecteurs, dont la série Rabbit and Hedgehog, In the Dark of the Night et Wings. Son travail a été largement reconnu et récompensé, avec des distinctions telles que le Gold Smarties Prize pour Fergus Crane et des victoires au Silver Nestle Prize pour Corby Flood et Hugo Pepper. Stewart réside actuellement à Brighton avec sa femme et ses enfants.
