Rob Lloyd Jones est un auteur jeunesse qui est né à San Francisco mais a grandi à Londres. Il nourrit une passion pour l'histoire, en particulier l'égyptologie, ce qui l'a amené à étudier cette matière à l'université. Pendant ses études, il a appris l'écriture hiéroglyphique et a commencé à participer à des fouilles avec la Société d'exploration de l'Égypte. Sa passion pour l'histoire se reflète dans son travail, puisqu'il a écrit plus de trente livres pour Usborne, dont la plupart sont des ouvrages historiques et non fictionnels.
Outre ses écrits non fictionnels, Lloyd Jones a également adapté des classiques tels que Jekyll et Hyde et Le Comte de Monte-Cristo. Il est éditeur senior chez Usborne et a écrit des épisodes de la série télévisée pour enfants Bernard's Watch pour Carlton Kids. Lloyd Jones s'implique également bénévolement en tant que lecteur aidant dans une école primaire de Clerkenwell.
En tant qu'auteur à succès, Lloyd Jones a remporté plusieurs prix pour ses œuvres, dont le Royal Society Young People's Book Prize. Son premier roman, Wild Boy, figurait parmi les cinq meilleurs livres de l'année dans le prestigieux Branford Boase Award. Il a écrit des livres illustrés, des contes de fées et des livres avec des volets, entre autres.
Le dernier roman de Lloyd Jones, Me, My Brother and the Monster Meltdown, a été co-écrit avec ses deux fils et est basé sur une idée qu'ils ont eue lors d'un dîner en famille. Il est fier de ce livre, qu'il considère comme son meilleur travail à ce jour, avec les meilleures parties attribuées aux contributions de ses fils.
